On Friday King Goodwill Zwelithini visited the farm. He is the reigning King of the Zulu nation in South Africa. King Zwelithini is pictured left with John Spiers (Backsberg's CEO) in the gardens adjacent to my late grandparents' house.
With a crisp autumn day as a backdrop, King Zwelithini and his family enjoyed a private tasting and lunch over the course of the afternoon.
King Zwelithini, born on the 14th of July 1948, became King after his father's death in 1968. He was officially installed as the 8th monarch of the Zulu nation on the 3rd of December 1971.
We hope to see King Zwelithini back on the farm in the not too distant future!
Have a good week.
